School Philosophy Statement

  • We will use our vision statement to guide our decision making in all aspects of school life.

  • We will provide a quality education for children from the international community (both expatriate and Romanian) between the ages of 4 to 19 in an English speaking environment.

  • We will not discriminate against children on any grounds (gender, race, creed, culture or ability) but seek to provide a accepting environment for children where all are equal and all are treated equally.

  • We will employ skilled, British trained teachers to deliver a curriculum based on the English National Curriculum. We will adapt this to meet the needs of our international community of children and to acknowledge the heritage of our host country, Romania.

  • We will focus on the key skills in English, Mathematics, Science and Information Technology (using the guidance of the appropriate schemes of work) to enable all children to access the full width of the curriculum, so as to equip our children to excel in the world of the 21st century.

  • We will have high expectations of our children so they will expect the best of themselves and have high standards to reach towards.

  • We will develop children as whole individuals so that all skills and abilities are recognized and encouraged and so that both success and failure are seen as opportunities for further growth and development. We will assess children against external standards but will also assess them in terms of improvement and progress.

  • We will provide an education that will enable children to move to an educational establishment in any other part of the world.

  • We will promote a caring ethos throughout the school (between children, staff and parents) so there is an atmosphere of mutual respect and co-operation.

  • We will develop our school in partnership with the parents of our children through regular meetings, regular reports on the progress of children and through consultation on the service which we are providing as a school.

  • We will provide a wide range of after school activities so that children see the school, their colleagues and their teachers in a wider context.

  • We will, as a school, keep abreast of developments in education worldwide and constantly seek to develop ourselves professionally. We are committed to supporting each other in terms of well-being and development and expect all staff, in return, to strive constantly for higher standards of performance and achievement.

  • We will work together - teaching staff, administrative staff and support staff - to make this a school worthy of our children and in accord with our vision.
