Fire procedure
Ensure you read this notice and understand it fully so that in the case of an emergency you know what to do.
-
The teacher is the responsible person in the case of any emergency.
-
Stay calm and do not panic.
-
Switch off any appliances.
-
Vacate the room in an orderly fashion. You should not stop to collect possessions but vacate the room immediately. The first route of exit should be by way of the stairwell and the front door of the school. In the event of this being blocked by fire then, if you are on the first or second floor, you should leave via the balcony and fire escape ladder.
-
If individual children are out of the classroom when a fire starts they should make their way quickly and safely, by the nearest exit, to the playground where they should report to their teacher.
-
All classes should assemble on the playground by the gate. Teachers should have their registers and check that they have all the children for whom they are responsible.
-
It is the responsibility of the floor warden to ensure that the floor is clear and there are no people left behind.
-
Having exited the building, no-one should re-enter the building for any reason.
-
Give assistance to those who are injured and calm those who are distressed. Assist the emergency services by following all instructions they give.
