Ski Trip - Kaprun

As the plane climbed, we did not where it was going as the mischievous fog had covered the valley; it was incredibly obscure. It was the kind of weather that not even planes transporting Barrack Obama to an UN meeting would take off in. We were speechless. All you could hear was the sound of the engine. A blast of sunlight hit us after 2000 meters as we emerged out of a blanket of clouds. This was the kind of landscape that would be remembered!

The transport from Bucharest to Kaprun was made without any of us being stressed out. Of course, almost all of us had an iphone or ipod to play on plus the majority of us were fascinated with the ipad Johnny brought. So, we were too busy playing games to get stressed or bored and before we knew it, the plane landed in Salzburg. We got on the bus and again, we did not realize 2 hours had passed by the time we got to Kaprun.

The city had not changed, at least not much since our ski trip last year. The hotel was the same, the shop where we rented equipment was the same one and even the ski instructor was the same as last year. Many of us were already familiar with everything from the first day.

Skiing was great! We skied on the glacier which peaks at an altitude of 3,200 meters. The clear mountain air filled our lungs and the different tracks gave us the adrenaline to go even faster. It was exciting to know you are not limited by just what you think you can do. You can go off-track or stay on course. You can go fast or do lots of turns. Of course having inner confidence and having your bindings tight enough so they don't release at every bump is required. Morale was high while skiing which made the trip still more enjoyable.

After returning from the glacier, a recovery program was in order. After the 4th day, any person from the trip that said that did not have muscle pain was a liar. Some of us went with Mr. Ciprian to the spa in order to ease the pain from our legs while others were happy with a warm shower at the hotel. Eventually the final day came. The majority of us were exhausted or sick which explains why the day before, only 3 people skied. Of course, going to bed at 2am and then being woken up at 7:25 am by Mr. Ciprian affected our stamina during the day.

In the end, it was an enjoyable trip which had some memorable moments. Everyone had a good time skiing and relaxing in Kaprun. The services offered were without complaint and of a high quality. I would personally recommend Kaprun if you ever have the opportunity to go.
