Dragons Den 2011

About Dragon's Den

Dragons ready? Entrepreneurs it is now “go” time!

This year our school held our very own Dragon’s Den competition. The competition consisted of formulating an original idea and creating its own business forecast, analysis, and marketing method with the aim of ultimately presenting it to the Dragons. Most of the Business and Economics geeks participated as it was a great way to revise the whole syllabus for the upcoming exams. The judges included Ms. Crane, Mr. Tiplea, Ms. Chelsea, and two experienced and respectable businessmen operating in Romania, Mr. Tudorache, a judge on the Romanian Dragons Den, and Mr. Howard owner of a real estate company.  They were more than eager and prepared to ask us the toughest of questions!

All Hopefuls competed with the ultimate hope of winning the grand prize, an opportunity of experiencing Business first hand in Mr. Tudorache’s Company. Yes, that’s right, a three day internship! Thus the competition began! First up were the boys Alex, Batuhan, and Sebastian. Their idea was a mixture of gaming and networks. Next up were the girls Zandra, Kelly and myself with the idea for a new and improved computer (to keep it simple), followed by Kira and Sebastian who wowed and tempted the judges with their heavenly delight of cakes and brownies. Good strategy I may add. They were followed by Baiar, flying solo, and inspiring all of us with his idea for electrical cars and reducing pollution. He was followed by Shyam and Dan whose idea was building “Eco World”, by providing a whole new perspective to the word green.  Then of course, the big guys: A level business geeks Thomas and Andra, whose idea for creating a Farm Fishery with a shop and restaurant on premises quickly became the judges’ favorites. They also went on to ultimately win the competition.

All in all we walked away with a book on “The Rules of Business Management” a certificate, a Parker’s pen and a title, but ultimately, we had a great experience and an opportunity for doing some very valuable Business revision.
