PTF Members

My name is Petra Müller-Demary and our 2 children (Daniel in year 12 and Cora in year 9) have been attending IBSB for 4 years. I am originally from Germany and have lived in Romania now for more than 15 years. So in a way I am not a typical expat anymore, but neither am I Romanian – I think perhaps I am a bit of both. A good mixture, such as is the parent community at IBSB.

I have accepted the new role of PTF President, which means that I will act as a link between the parents and the school. Since our children joined IBSB  they have developed really well and I appreciate how the school creates a positive and challenging learning environment that helps the students to develop both their talents and  potential - not only academically, but as a whole person.

I would like to contribute to building up a strong community which can support the teachers in their efforts and to be a spokesperson for parents who wish to raise a point in regards to the running of the school.

So if you have any ideas and suggestions please don’t hesitate to contact me at

My name is Madi Dobre and I am a mother of a 6 year old girl that has just joined IBSB this year.

IBSB is an International British School ranked as one of the best private schools in Bucharest. I have known about it for many years and even if I’ve been given good referrals, it still took me a while to decide to enroll my daughter in this school. Now we are here and I look forward to the journey together.

Very recently I’ve been assigned a role on PTF as the New Parent Coordinator, a role that will give me the possibility to interact with new parents and families in town, who, during their settling in period, will need support and guidance in regard to how to get the most out of your time here, and what things you can do to enjoy the weekends with your children, as well as any other support you may need.

I will be more than happy to help, so please do contact me by phone 0722 229 786 or at
madi.dobre @ consulco.com.

My name is Helene Pascoli-Robert.

I am French and have 3 kids, 2 of which have attended IBSB for the last 3 years: Agathe, currently in Y1, and Stanislas in Y3.

I have volunteered for the PTF to be in charge of coordinating non-academic activities for the children of Primary School.

With a group of enthusiastic Mums, we put in place last year the IBSB Martisor Day: together with the teachers of Primary School, the Mums helped in each class to produce original Martisor talismans and we planted flowers with the children. It was a great opportunity for us to be part of “what’s happening at school” and to interact differently with the teachers! We financed the cost of the Martisors with money from cake sales at the Christmas Show.

This year, with the group of the “Martisor” Mums and new Mums, we helped the teachers to entertain kids at the Halloween Party, with fun contests and games!

With a Mum of Y3 (Brindusa Kamara), we also initiated a Book Exchange Club, to promote reading and to offer children an increased choice of books (through an exchange of favorite books in the classroom). The project is carefully coordinated with the school management and teachers to make sure it is a success!

Any parent willing to help, or with ideas for fun activities for Primary School students is welcome to contact me…. helene.pascoli @ email.com

My name is Gabriela Mihailovici.

I am Romanian and I have my son in Year 4b in the Primary School.

I am part of the Events Organizing Committee in the PTF.

My message would like to go to those very busy parents who might get the sense of guilt that they aren’t as active as they wish: who could say no to giving at least three hours to their child's school over nine months? What for, one can legitimately ask?

You could come together (i) to find parents’ practical ways or involvement strategies that are working for others and could work for us, as well! ...or (ii) to get the taste of volunteering alongside your children and teachers.....or (iii) to discover new parents partnerships as those already implemented in the last year (Halloween or Mărţişor projects) and ways how to leverage these examples.

For other parents the school involvement is limited to attendance parent-teacher night meetings. To those of you who are in this case, why not to make the most of the opportunity of organizing other types of events you consider suitable for you such as (in)formal parents’ talks to share your parental experience? Or any other idea of launching and implementing new project(s) would be highly appreciated!

Also, my message would like to go to those parents who may feel uncomfortable in their children's school. The good news is that it happens with many parents and in many schools throughout the world! Join us to find out and develop activities which promote parental involvement which make you feel welcome in the school!

We all know that the most valuable way to get involved in our child’s education is not only working like crazy to provide him or her a rich learning environment in a beautiful home but to enrich our child’s academic and learning achievements by much more other wonderful things! So, make a priority in your very busy daily or monthly or annually agenda to attend the school events and to get involved in the school activities at least three hours over nine months by creative ideas that will help you understand and support your child’s education!
