Executive Membership Status

IBSB was awarded Executive Membership status in 2011.

Schools awarded COBIS Executive Membership have all been inspected by ISI and they have been judged to have met specific criteria which includes; a high level of school development planning, the provision of a balanced and challenging curriculum, the recruitment and professional development training of qualified teachers and school leaders and a range of policies which will provide a safe and secure environment for children and adults to work within.

COBIS Executive Membership ensures the quality of education provision is in line with the requirements set out by the UK Department for Education.

By successfully completing an ISI Inspection this clearly illustrates a recognised link between the International British School of Bucharest, the UK Government Department for Education (DfE) and COBIS.

Inspections of COBIS Executive and Member schools are carried out by six DfE approved Inspectorates. ISI is one of the six approved DfE inspectorates. ISI is approved as an inspectorate in the UK under Section 162A of the Education Act 2002. It reports publicly to the UK Government’s Department for Education (DfE) on the extent to which schools meet statutory requirements.

In terms of transition to UK based Universities, the quality of educational provision at COBIS Executive Member schools, is of a high standard, enabling students to prepare for and apply to read degree programmes at in the UK, which is particularly important for the continuity of quality higher education in an ever increasingly competitive global marketplace.
